Nanny jobs: the responsibilities of a nanny

A nanny is a very important job as children are precious and the basic role of a nanny includes many different duties and jobs. A regular routine will enable both the nanny and the child to form structure and patterns in their lives. Keeping feeding to similar times of the day as well as naps and play time will enable the child to learn what will be expected of them and when. Appropriate stimulation during play time is also important, with a good mixture of physical, social, intellectual, emotional and language skills being explored every day. Making beds after naps, storing and disposing of nappies, cleaning and sterilising bottles and making up formulas are also essential parts of nanny jobs. Cleaning the toys regularly can be a job that is shared with the child, dependant on age, and storing them in a tidy way and making sure they are safe and in full working order is important.

The hygienic preparation of meals and snacks, teaching children how to use cutlery and cleaning mouths and hands properly, will keep the children healthy and prevent sores forming. Nanny jobs can require nanny's to provide transportation and it is the responsibility of a nanny to use the correct seats and safety restraints as well as have the correct licenses. The washing and ironing of the children's clothes can be a daily job and the playrooms and children's areas should be tidied daily and cleaned weekly but can be dependent on what has been agreed with the employer.
